This is a list of supported NFO formats and helpful tips on how to use them in the corresponding software.

Kodi

Kodi is a free and open source media center capable of playing almost every media format available. Kodi natively supports NFO files - all you need to do is prepare them with tinyMediaManager and set your data source as a source in Kodi. If you don’t want Kodi to also contact external sites for metadata, set the “Information provider” to Local information only. In this case, Kodi will only read your local NFO and artwork files.

XBMC (Kodi < v16)

XBMC is the legacy format for Kodi NFO files, designed for Kodi/XBMC versions below v16 (and other third-party software that still relies on this older format).

Emby

Emby is a centralized media center capable of streaming a wide range of media formats to your devices. Emby has a wide range of clients where you can stream your media. Emby natively supports NFO files - you just need to prepare them with tinyMediaManager and set up your data source in Emby.

Jellyfin

Jellyfin is a free and open source centralized media center capable of streaming a wide range of media formats to your devices. Jellyfin has a wide range of clients where you can stream your media. Jellyfin natively supports NFO files - you just need to prepare them with tinyMediaManager and set up your data source in the Jellyfin library. If you don’t want Jellyfin to also contact external sites for metadata, deactivate “Fetch additional data from the internet”.

Plex

Plex is a centralized media center capable of streaming a wide range of media formats to your devices. Plex has a wide range of clients where you can stream your media. Plex has no official support for NFO files, but with third-party metadata agents, you can read NFO files created by tinyMediaManager - XBMCnfoMoviesImporter.bundle and XBMCnfoTVImporter.bundle.

Warning: Please note that these third-party metadata agents are not officially supported by Plex or tinyMediaManager, and their functionality may be limited or may break with future Plex updates. Use them at your own risk.

MediaPortal

MediaPortal is a free and open source media center capable of playing a wide range of different media formats. MediaPortal natively supports NFO files.
